HC Deb 04 February 1948 vol 446 c1800
45. Mr. Lipson

asked the Prime Minister if he is aware that the memorial scroll granted to the next-of-kin of a member of the forces killed in the World War of 1939–45 is issued to the widow of the deceased, if there is a widow; that, in such circumstances, the parents have no claim; that this has given rise to some disappointment; and whether he will reconsider the matter.

The Prime Minister (Mr. Attlee)

I have recently had the problem examined and approval has now been given to a recommendation for the issue of a duplicate Scroll in such circumstances to parents who notify the Ministry of Pensions of their desire to receive this.

Mr. Lipson

Is the Prime Minister aware that the action which he has taken is very much appreciated?
