HC Deb 02 February 1948 vol 446 cc1444-5
17. Captain Marsden

asked the Minister of Transport how many tankers are laid up in United Kingdom ports.

Mr. Barnes

Three, Sir.

Captain Marsden

Does the Minister mean that those three tankers are awaiting reconditioning or are they rated as redundant?

Mr. Barnes

They are not awaiting either minor or substantial repairs. There is rather a long history about two of them, but I should say at least two out of the three are practically finished. If the hon. and gallant Member wants details of all three I will send them to him. I do not think any of them stand much chance of seeing further service.
