HC Deb 13 December 1948 vol 459 cc836-7
57. Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

asked the Minister of Works when he proposes to extend the present hours of opening of Richmond Park.

Mr. Key

The gates of Richmond Park are open from dawn to dusk. There is no intention of altering the hours.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the hours of opening before the war were very much longer, and that it would be a considerable improvement to the amenities of the district if later hours than at present could be allowed.

Mr. Key

Under existing conditions, we feel it is much better for the safety of the general public that the park should be closed as at present rather than be left open.
