HC Deb 13 December 1948 vol 459 c827
39. Brigadier Rayner

asked the Minister of Transport if he will consider the reduction of coastal shipping freight rates on the carriage of stone from South Devon to London and other ports.

Mr. Barnes

In accordance with my policy of progressively releasing shipping from control, the rates to which the hon. and gallant Member refers were freed in March, 1946. The rates now charged are not such as would justify any reimposition of control.
