asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is prepared to introduce a Bill to amend the Legitimacy Act, 1926, in order to legitimise the birth of children of parents who have gone through a form of marriage which is later annulled on the grounds that the marriage was null and void.

I am considering this matter in consultation with my right hon. and learned Friend the Attorney-General.

Mr. Janner

When my right hon. Friend is considering it, will he direct his attention not only to the recent case but also to the position of the children and the innocent spouses of bigamous marriages, because that consideration is also involved?

We shall have regard to all issues raised by the Question.
