HC Deb 01 December 1948 vol 458 c1990
35. Mr. Gammans

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how many radio-sending and receiving sets were indented for through the Crown Agents by the Malayan Governments in 1946; how many of these sets had been received by 1st April, 1948; and what was the reason for the delay.

Mr. Creech Jones

One transmitting and one receiving installation for broadcasting purposes were indented for by the Malayan Governments at the end of 1946. Neither had been delivered by 1st April, 1948. Final portions of the indents are now being shipped. These are large sets and delivery for this type of equipment has not been unduly delayed.

Mr. Gammans

Will the right hon. Gentleman say how many sets for the use of the police were indented for in 1946 and how many of them had not been received two years later?

Mr. Creech Jones

I should like to have notice of that question. I have not got that information here.
