Mr. Creech JonesThe number of West African nurses expected to complete their training in the United Kingdom during the next three years is: 1949, 4; 1950, 37; 1951, 83. Dispensers are normally trained in the Colony. There are ample facilities in the United Kingdom for training suitable candidates in nursing.
§ Dr. SegalDoes my right hon. Friend really feel that these figures are commensurate with the appalling needs of the situation, and should not these facilities be further extended?
Mr. Creech JonesIt is not due to the local Government that more nurses are not there. It is a very ample scheme, and we are prepared to receive as many applicants as are prepared to apply.
