§ 17. Mr. Dribergasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he is aware that there is a long waiting-list of children and adolescents anxious to enrol at the Junior Centre of the Institute of Jamaica; and if, in view of the importance of the educational and social influence of this centre, he will urge the Government of Jamaica to give it the maximum possible financial and other encouragement.
Mr. Creech JonesThere are two Junior Centres administered by the Institute. The larger, in Kingston, has a waiting list of 400 children whom it is hoped to enrol during the next three months. I understand that the Government of Jamaica is already supporting these centres to the extent which its finances permit.
