§ 65. Mr. Bowden
asked the Minister of Food if he has now considered the evidence submitted to him regarding the sending of gift parcels of foodstuffs to selected persons in the United Kingdom by an alleged welfare organisation in India in return for donations varying from £2 10s. to £5 10s. to that organisation, the contents of the parcels to be dependent upon the amount of the donation; and what steps are being taken to stop this practice.
The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food (Dr. Edith Summer-skill)

It is illegal for anyone in the United Kingdom to make a donation to any individual or organisation abroad with the intention of receiving a parcel of rationed foods or causing such a parcel to be sent to any other person in this country.
