HC Deb 12 April 1948 vol 449 cc624-5
78. Mr. Percy Wells

asked the Minister of Works on what grounds licences Nos. 0/12/46/11721, 0/12/11721/1 and 0/12/11721/2 in respect of the building of a snack bar, café and dining hall were granted; and why these applications were not submitted to the Sheerness Urban District Council.

The Minister of Works (Mr. Key)

The proposal for the conversion of the premises at 9 to II, High Street, Sheerness, into a cafe was supported by the Ministry of Food and licences were therefore issued to allow work to proceed. The applications were dealt with by my officers since the licensing of non-housing work costing more than £100 is not delegated to local authorities.
