HC Deb 08 April 1948 vol 449 cc352-3
49. Major Tufton Beamish

asked the Minister of Labour why he withdrew his letter sent to the Chairmen of Wages Councils on the subject of the Government's wages policy; and if he will publish this letter in HANSARD, as well as any new letter sent in its place.

Mr. Isaacs

I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the reply I gave to the hon. Member for Kingston-upon-Thames (Mr. Boyd-Carpenter) on 6th April. I have placed in the Library a copy of the letter I sent to Wages Councils and Wages Boards on 6th April.

Major Beamish

Is that the letter in question?

Mr. Isaacs

The one I have placed in the Library is the letter that was issued the day before yesterday.

Major Beamish

Is that the letter which was withdrawn? That is the one I want to see published.

Mr. Isaacs

In regard to that letter, I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the reply I gave the other day.
