HC Deb 08 April 1948 vol 449 cc331-2
7. Colonel Stoddart-Scott

asked the Minister of Health what steps is he taking to increase the facilities for the training of medical and dental students; and is it his intention to encourage the setting up of new medical and dental schools.

Mr. Bevan

I have invited the universities and medical and dental schools, as the responsible authorities, to consider the relevant recommendations of the Goodenough and Teviot Committees. Facilities are being extended within the limits of the available resources.

Colonel Stoddart-Scott

Would the right hon. Gentleman ask the university colleges and technical colleges that are able to set up technical schools also to consider the reports, and to make recommendations to him?

Mr. Bevan

Only where there are university facilities in the locality.
