§ The following Question stood on the Order Paper in the name of Mr. WILLIAM Ross:
§ 2. To ask the Minister of Pensions if he is aware of the hardships caused by the present method of awarding grants towards education by his Department; and whether he will take steps to remedy this.
§ Mr. BuchananI will, with permission, make a statement in reply to Question No. 2. I am aware that a number of applications for education allowances have been refused because of the non-fulfilment of the requirement that the father would have been able to provide the type of education proposed had he not been a war casualty. I have not felt satisfied about this, and I am pleased to say that as from 32 the 1st April this requirement will no longer need to be fulfilled.
