HC Deb 29 October 1947 vol 443 c861
35. Mr. Skinnard

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is now satisfied with the staffing of the Jamaica Mental Hospital; and what steps have been taken by the Government of Jamaica to ensure that this institution is properly conducted.

Mr. Rees-Williams

I could not say that the staffing of the Jamaica Mental Hospital is yet wholly satisfactory, but a number of steps have been taken to improve it, including post-graduate training in England of two medical officers for the hospital and the recruitment and training of additional nursing staff. The Governor has appointed a Special Committee of Investigation and its report is expected shortly.
