Mr. Cocksasked the Minister for Economic Affairs whether full employment is still the aim and policy of His Majesty's Government; or whether it considers that it is necessary to have a reserve pool of unemployed labour upon which industry can draw as stated by a member of the Government's Economic Board.
§ The Paymaster-General (Mr. Marquand)I have been asked to reply. The answer to the first part of the Question is "Yes, Sir." A considerable transfer, however, between industries of labour and other resources will probably be required to meet our present difficulties. The Economic Planning Board to which I presume the hon. Member is referring, is an advisory body and His Majesty's Government are in no way responsible for the views expressed by individual members of the Board.
