46. Mr. Osborne

asked the Minister of Labour how many staff are employed in the Regional Appointments Office, Nottingham; what is the annual cost in salaries and all other charges, respectively; and how many people have been placed in jobs by them during the last three months.

Mr. Isaacs

The staff at Nottingham Regional Appointments Office which is engaged on the administration of the Further Education and Training Scheme, the Business Training Scheme, and careers advice in addition to placing work, totals 67. The estimated annual cost of salaries is £30,000, and all other charges, including rent, rates and miscellaneous expenses, are estimated at £4,000. In the three months ended 10th November, 1947, the Appointments Office placed 149 persons in employment.

Could the Minister tell the House how many of his staff in that office are being paid overtime?

Not without notice, but if they are paid overtime they are working for it.
