HC Deb 27 November 1947 vol 444 c2125
85. Major Legge-Bourke

asked the Minister of Health when the report of the Royal Commission on Population may be expected.

Mr. Bevan

I am informed by the Commission that, owing to the delays in the tabulation of the family census, the Report will not be ready until next year.

Major Legge-Bourke

Would the right hon. Gentleman consider asking the Commissioners to provide an interim report with particular reference to the Imperial shortage of manpower, which might be valuable from the point of view of collaboration with the Dominions in the near future?

Mr. Bevan

I would not like at this stage, when the Report is almost due, to add to their labours by asking for an interim report.
