HC Deb 18 November 1947 vol 444 c956
7. Mr. A. Edward Davies

asked the Minister of National Insurance what action he proposes to take to improve the income of men and women who sustained industrial injury prior to 1924.

Mr. J. Griffiths

Under Section 82 of the National Insurance (Industrial Injuries) Act, there is power by regulations to provide for payment out of the Industrial Injuries Fund of the un-employability supplement and constant attendance allowance in appropriate circumstances to workmen injured before 1st January, 1924, who at the appointed day are entitled to weekly payments of compensation. These benefits should provide substantial assistance in some of the cases to which my hon. Friend refers.
