§ 33. Sir T. Moore
asked the Minister of Supply how many civil servants and other personnel are employed in his Department in performing duties on behalf of the War Office and Air Ministry, respectively.
§ Mr. G. R. Strauss
On 1st October, 1947, 524 Army officers and 1,706 other ranks were employed mainly on work for the War Office, and 493 R.A.F. officers and 3,558 other ranks on work for the Air Ministry. It is not possible to say precisely what proportion of the work of the remainder of my staff is for the War Office and Air Ministry.
§ Sir T. Moore
Could not these duties now be carried out more quickly, efficiently and economically by the Department concerned?
