HC Deb 17 November 1947 vol 444 cc811-2
73. Mr. Marples

asked the Minister of Works for what reason in S.R. & O., 1947, No. 1641, provision is made for an increase in the stacking charges for bricks at a rate of 100 per cent. above the aver age rate for a similar service preceding September, 1939; and how much of this charge is due to increase in labour costs and how much to lower productivity.

Mr. Key

The increase in stacking, charges is accounted for by the increase in labour costs without assuming any fall in productivity.

Mr. Marples

Is the Minister aware that labour costs have increased 100 per cent.?

Mr. Key

Yes, Sir. They have increased more than 100 per cent.
