HC Deb 10 November 1947 vol 444 cc22-3
45. Mr. Gooch

asked the Prime Minister if he will make a statement on the recent interview leaders of the National Farmers' Union had with him and the Minister of Economic Affairs, the Minister of Labour and the Minister of Agriculture.

The Prime Minister (Mr. Attlee)

As stated in the Press notice issued after the meeting with representatives of the National Farmers' Union, the discussion was on problems arising out of the agricultural expansion programme, with particular reference to the availability of labour and the supply of machinery.

Mr. Gooch

Will my right hon. Friend consider communicating to the representatives of the farmworkers any conclusions that were reached at the interview?

The Prime Minister

I will certainly consider that. It was an informal talk at which no final conclusions were reached.
