38. Mr. David Jones

asked the Minister of Food whether he is yet in a position, to extend the cold storage facilities for kippers to the existing plant at Hartlepool, having regard to the very large industrial population that can be served from this port.

Mr. Strachey

To maintain good quality, I understand that kippers should be stored at a temperature of zero Fahrenheit. There are no cold stores in Hartlepool which are suitable.
