HC Deb 05 November 1947 vol 443 cc1826-7
41. Commander Noble

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has any statement to make on the damage caused by the recent hurricane in Bermuda.

Mr. Rees-Williams

The Governor has reported that the damage was comparatively light. Some buildings suffered minor damage, and there was estimated loss of crops of £20,000. I regret to say there was one casualty. A linesman of the Electric Light Company died from head injuries sustained from a fall while repairing broken wires.
