§ 33. Sir Stanley Reedasked the Minister of Food whether he will inquire into the supplies of meat in the Wycombe district for the week commencing 5th May, which, although classed as first quality lamb, were so inferior that customers refused to take their rations; and what steps he is taking to ensure a better supply of meat to this district.
§ Mr. StracheyAbout 10 per cent. at High Wycombe's ration meat for the week was Uruguayan spring lamb, which, although small, was of average quality. My Department knows of only one person who refused to take this meat as part of her ration.
§ Sir S. ReedWill the Minister accept the assurance of a personal inspection that this meat was so far below standard that it was impossible for the butchers to cut it up into rations?
§ Mr. StracheyNo, Sir, that is not according to our information.
