HC Deb 19 May 1947 vol 437 cc1980-1
18. Major Tufton Beamish

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is aware that M. Jerzy Borejsza, who is head of the Communist-controlled newspaper co-operative "Czytenik," is visiting this country; that M. Borejsza has been and is responsible to the Communist party in Poland for conducting the present Press campaign against this country; and whether he will seek an assurance from the Polish Government that it will show reciprocity in granting visas to British newspapermen and others with known strong anti-Communist views to visit Poland under conditions of equal freedom.

Mr. Mayhew

Yes, Sir; my right hon. Friend is aware of M. Borejsza's visit, but sees no reason to seek an assurance about reciprocity. So far as is known no British correspondents who have applied for visas to Poland have been refused them.
