§ Motion made, and Question proposed, "That this House do now adjourn." —[Mr. Michael Stewart.]
§ 12.29 a.m.
§ Sir John Mellor (Sutton Coldfield)I am taking this opportunity to raise the question of grants for maintenance of classified roads. I am very glad to see the Minister of Transport present, because I wish to ask him why he has cut county council estimates ranking for grant for the maintenance of classified roads in the current year. I know that this is a matter which has interested a considerable number of Members in all quarters of the House, coming from different parts of the country. On 6th May, 1946, the Minister of Transport said in the House—
§ Notice taken that 40 Members were not present; House counted, and, 40 Members not being present, the House was adjourned at Twenty-eight Minutes to One o'Clock, till this day.
