HC Deb 15 May 1947 vol 437 cc1685-6
9. Sir Patrick Hannon

asked the Minister of Health if he is satisfied that the present scales of remuneration and conditions of service in the nursing profession reach the standard at which recruitment of nursing students will meet the present exigencies of staff in hospitals and homes; and if he contemplates further improvement to meet the difficulty in hospital administration.

Mr. Bevan

I would refer the hon. Member to my reply to his Question on 8th May.

Sir P. Hannon

When will the right hon. Gentleman be in a position to give a definite assurance that the whole resources of the Ministry will be brought to bear on the recruitment of nurses in this country to meet the needs of hospitals and homes?

Mr. Bevan

Next year, when the Act is in operation.
