HC Deb 15 May 1947 vol 437 c1697
50. Mrs. Jean Mann

asked the Minister of Labour what percentage of unemployed persons on the Scottish register represents disabled persons; and what percentage capable of light work only.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Labour (Mr. Ness Edwards)

Registered disabled persons suitable for ordinary employment represented about 9½ per cent. of the total numbers of insured persons unemployed in Scotland in April. Unemployed disabled persons suitable only for work under sheltered conditions, of whom there were about 1,300, and other persons not suitable for ordinary industrial employment, numbering about 3,000, are not' included in the figures of the registered unemployed.
