HC Deb 12 May 1947 vol 437 cc1164-5
Mr. Silkin

I beg to move, in page 105, line 33, after "repealed," to insert: in the case of enactments specified in Part I of that Schedule, as from the passing of this Act, and in the case of the enactments specified in Part II of that Schedule. This insertion, together with the new Part I of the Eighth Schedule, which we shall reach later, becomes necessary because the new basis of compensation for compulsory acquisition contained in that Part is being brought into force on the Royal Assent, unlike the bulk of the Bill.

Amendment agreed to.

Further Amendments made: In page 105, line 34, at the end, insert: Provided that the repeal by virtue of the subsection of any enactment specified in Part I of the said Eighth Schedule shall not affect the operation of that enactment in its application to compensation in respect of land compulsorily acquired in pursuance of a notice to treat served before the date of the passing of this Act or compensation in respect of any order or direction made or given before that date.

In line 37, leave out from "not," to the end of the line.—[Mr. Silkin.]

Clause, as amended, ordered to stand part of the Bill.
