HC Deb 25 March 1947 vol 435 c1045
Mr. Joynson-Hicks

I beg leave to present a Petition on behalf of a large number of people interested in the preservation and proper development of the coast and countryside in the Selsey peninsula. The Petition, which is signed by upwards of 10,000 inhabitants of the Chichester city and rural district areas, recites that the petitioners are deeply and grievously affected by proposals of His Majesty's Government to create and perpetuate within their area bombing ranges to the detriment of the agricultural and fishing industries, the resorts of scores of thousands of annual holiday visitors, and the use of harbours, and to the destruction of a nature reserve and many people's livelihoods. The Petition concludes with the prayer: Your petitioners pray that the aforesaid proposals may be abandoned, and your petitioners, as in duty bound, will ever pray.

To lie upon the Table.
