HC Deb 25 March 1947 vol 435 c1058
18. Mr. Douglas Marshall

asked the Secretary of State for War what is the usual pay for a temporary civilian chief clerk of a combined supply depot; what are his duties and hours of duty; what is the amount per year of rationed goods for which he is responsible; and what are his overtime rates.

The Secretary of State for War (Mr. Bellenger)

I assume that the hon. Member is referring to a command supply depot, R.A.S.C. A civilian chief clerk at such a depot may belong to one of two grades, according to the size and responsibilities of the depot. His pay varies according to his grade, age and length of service, and the location of the depot. Assuming that he is age 25 or over, as he normally would be, the minimum of the London scales is 102s. a week, and the maximum 130s. He is responsible for the control and supervision of all clerical duties at the depot. He works a 44-hour week. The chief clerk is not responsible for the supplies handled by the depot, this responsibility resting with the commanding officer. His overtime rates are time and a quarter for hours in excess of 44 a week, and time and a half for Sunday duty.
