Professor Savoryasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has yet received a reply from the de facto Government of Poland to his communication of 30th January protesting against the arrest, at midnight, of Mme. Marie Marynowska, interpreter at the British Embassy, by the secret police.

§ Professor SavoryDoes not the right hon. Gentleman realise that the intention is really to show that the British Government are unable to protect any Pole and to force the Poles into the arms of the Communist Government?
Mr. McNeilAs the hon. Gentleman is aware, we made direct and plain representations upon this subject. We have kept it under review, and I have indicated that I believe that Mrs. Marynowska will be released.
