HC Deb 24 March 1947 vol 435 cc845-6
39. Mr. Assheton

asked the Minister of Food whether, in view of the fact that the quantity of oil-cake and meal produced during 1946 was lower than even the worst year during the war and that the imports during 1946 were less than one-third of those in 1945, he will give an assurance that the supply of cattle-cake to farmers will not be reduced.

Mr. Strachey

Yes, Sir, I can give an assurance that unless there is some unforeseen disaster the distribution of oil-cake to farmers will be at least as large this year as last.

Mr. Assheton

Is there any prospect of it being any larger?

Mr. Strachey

There is certainly an intention to make it as large as possible.
