§ 31. Mr. Youngerasked the Minister of Food whether he is aware that 1,000 tons of fish offal has now accumulated unprocessed at the works of the Grimsby Fish Meal Company, Limited, owing to lack of fuel; and what steps he is taking to prevent a loss of animal feedingstuffs and a nuisance to the town of Grimsby.
§ Mr. StracheyI am informed that on 19th March, the Grimsby Fish Meal Company had 630 tons of fish offal on hand for processing. My Divisional Food Officer has been making special efforts to help this company and I understand that he has been able to secure a small increase in their coal allocation.
§ Mr. YoungerDoes my right hon. Friend appreciate that the basic allocation of this company was based on a period when supplies of fish were much lower than they are at present, and even lower than they are likely to be in a few months? Will he give an assurance that everything possible will be done to enable this company to deal with the increasing supplies of offal, which they are not in a position to control?
§ Mr. StracheyYes, Sir.
