HC Deb 20 March 1947 vol 435 cc582-3
25. Sir Ian Fraser

asked the Minister of Health what proportion of the recruits to local government service during 1946 were ex-Servicemen; what representation he has made to local authorities in this matter; and whether, in view of the general shortage of manpower, he will direct the attention of local authorities to the importance of making use of disabled ex-Servicemen.

Mr. J. Edwards

I have no information on the first part of the Question. As regards the remainder, a communication was addressed to the local government associations on this subject in December last, and I will send the hon. Member a copy.

Sir I. Fraser

Can the hon. Gentleman say whether local authorities are enjoying the regulation three per cent., and, if not, will he make inquiries?

Mr. Edwards

I should want notice of that.
