HC Deb 20 March 1947 vol 435 c577
36. Mr. King

asked the Minister of Health if he authorised the requisitioning of a house in Wellington-Hill West, in the Henleaze suburb of Bristol, previously occupied by a Mrs. Rosina Ann Cornock.

Mr. J. Edwards

This house was requisitioned by the clerk to the local authority in the exercise of powers which my right hon. Friend has delegated to him.

Mr. King

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that this woman was on trial for her life and was an expectant mother, with the responsibilities which that entails? Was it not rather hard to take her house away before it was known whether she was innocent or guilty?

Mr. Edwards

The house in question was vacant and unoccupied, and the lady in question had removed her furniture before the requisitioning took place.
