HC Deb 17 March 1947 vol 435 c151

Motion made, and Question proposed, That a sum, not exceeding £57,958,000 be granted to His Majesty, to defray the expense of technical supplies and services, which will come in course of payment during the yeas ending on the 31st day of March, 1948.

Wing-Commander Shackleton

I notice that the only item which has declined between last year and this year is the supply of educational equipment and materials. It seems that as we return to peacetime there should be an increase. The number of men in the Air Force has not declined to such an extent I should think that there is not now a suitable moment for a great increase in the supply of educational equipment.

Mr. P. Noel-Baker

I will inquire into that point. In fact, the decline in the amount is not more than proportionate to the decline in the Force. I do not say that that is the explanation; it may be connected with the fact that we have not been able to secure the educational officers we want, but I will look into the matter.

Question put, and agreed to.
