HC Deb 17 March 1947 vol 435 c11
12. Mr. Bramall

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what assistance has been given by the United Kingdom to the Rumanian Government in meeting the present famine in that country.

Mr. McNeil

Some 500 tons of food are being despatched to the famine area from British Army rations in Italy as a free gift.

Mr. Bramall

Would my right hon. Friend see that, in so far as it lies within the power of the British Government, full publicity is given to this action on the part of the Government in assisting Rumania?

Mr. McNeil

I am exceedingly grateful for my hon. Friend's suggestion, but we did not expect publicity for this action.
