HC Deb 17 March 1947 vol 435 c20
24. Major Mott-Radclyffe

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether an office of the British Council has yet been established in Sofia.

Mr. McNeil

Since the hon. and gallant Member's Question on this subject on 25th November, staff have been selected. Arrangements are now being made with the Bulgarian Government to open an office in the very near future.

Mr. Mack

Would my right hon. Friend take reasonable care to see that the personnel of this staff are fair, clear-minded and objective, and the type of people who will report to him the true position as it exists in Bulgaria?

Mr. McNeil

If my hon. Friend will take the trouble to read the Question he will see that it refers to the staff of the British Council.

Mr. Mack

Wake them up a bit.
