§ 40. Mr. Granville Sharpasked the Secretary of State for War what type and standard of accommodation and amenities will be made available in Malaya and elsewhere for troops withdrawn from Japan; and whether he will give an assurance that they will be satisfactory.
§ Mr. BellengerTroops withdrawn from Japan are being housed partially in permanent barracks, partially in semipermanent camps, and partially in requisitioned buildings. I am informed that the accommodation and amenities are generally of an adequate standard, having regard to existing conditions in Malaya. Work on improvements, where necessary, has already started in certain cases, and in others will be commenced in the near future.
§ Mr. SharpWill the right hon. Gentleman pass on to the men concerned the assurance he has now given the House?
§ Mr. BellengerI think they will hear about it.
