HC Deb 11 March 1947 vol 434 c1105
1. Sir Robert Young

asked the Minister of National Insurance why Mr. and Mrs. Myles, 28, Huntley Street, Sankey, Warrington, aged 68 and 66 years, respectively, are still receiving a pension of 10s. per week; and whether he will expedite inquiries as the aforesaid pensions are their only source of income.

The Minister of National Insurance (Mr. James Griffiths)

I am glad to inform my hon. Friend that pension books at the increased rates were handed to Mr. and Mrs. Myles on 10th March.

Sir R. Young

Will my right hon. Friend ask the people concerned to hurry up in dealing with some of these cases?

Mr. Griffiths

I am continually pressing for that to be done, but I have an announcement to make about new arrangements in a moment.

Wing-Commander Millington

Is my right hon. Friend aware that such cases are still being brought to the notice of hon. Members in all constituencies, and that something really ought to be done to expedite the procedure in this matter?

Mr. Griffiths

I am very conscious of that, but perhaps my hon. and gallant Friend will wait until I have made my statement later.
