HC Deb 10 March 1947 vol 434 c937
24. Mr. Christopher Shaweross

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will publish in a White Paper, or other convenient form, a full account of the damage to British property and loss of British lives caused by unneutral acts of the Spanish Government during the war; what amount of reparations he proposes to demand for such damage and loss of life; and whether he is considering referring the claim to U.N.O.

Mr. McNeil

No, Sir. It is true that the Spanish Government interpreted their policy of non-belligerency or neutrality in such a way as at times to assist the Axis, but it is not possible to calculate the cost of such conduct either to British or to Allied interests. The second and third parts of the Questions do not, therefore, seem to arise.
