HC Deb 10 March 1947 vol 434 cc945-6
69. Sir W. Smithers

asked the Minister of Food what was the value of pears and tangerines which arrived last week in the Tyne; and how much of it was fit for human consumption.

Dr. Summerskill

I regret that the information for which the hon. Member asks is not at present available, but I am making inquiries and will supply him with such particulars as I am able to obtain as soon as possible. I am informed that much of this fruit, which was imported on private account and not by the Ministry of Food, had to be condemned as unfit for human consumption.

Sir W. Smithers

May I take it that the hon. Lady will send me full particulars when she receives them?

Dr. Summerskill

Yes, Sir.
