§ 31. Mr. Errollasked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether full requirements of oil will be available for all firms now carrying out coal to oil conversion projects; and can complete availability of supplies be guaranteed for at least three years.
§ Mr. ShinwellProvision for the fuel oil needed for the conversions so far authorised has been made in the present oil supply programme and similar provision will be made in the programmes for future years.
§ Mr. ErrollDoes the Minister realise that while there is still doubt as to his being able to supply all the oil required, many manufacturers will hold back from converting their plants to oil?
§ Mr. ShinwellThere is no doubt as to an ample supply of fuel oil being avail- 633 able. There is no difficulty in this connection.
§ Mr. ErrollDoes that mean that any manufacturer can obtain all the fuel oil he wants if he converts?
§ Mr. ShinwellThat is a generalisation. If manufacturers will apply for the oil they require we will consider their requirements and do our best to meet them.
