HC Deb 06 March 1947 vol 434 c622
8. Lieut.-Colonel Corbett

asked the President of the Board of Trade what special help he is prepared to give towards the establishment of a light industry in Ludlow, which is needed.

Sir S. Cripps

Arrangements have been made for the establishment in Ludlow of two light industries which should cater for the employment needs of the district.

Lieut.-Colonel Corbett

Is the Minister aware that the most important of these two firms is not prepared to start the industry going because of the lack of raw material which can be allocated to it to carry out the work which it has under taken to do; and is he prepared to give an assurance that raw material will be available to this firm, the Wolsey Sheep shearing Company?

Sir S. Cripps

I am not aware of the facts as regards that situation. If the hon. and gallant Member will write to me about it, I will do the best I can.
