HC Deb 23 June 1947 vol 439 c34
88. Mr. Irving

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware of the increasing cost of boot repairs owing to the poor quality of leather; and if he will take steps to make available better quality leather for this purpose.

Mr. Collindridge (Comptroller of the Household)

I have been asked to reply.

The quality of leather has improved since the war ended, and endeavours are being made to improve it further, but we are not yet able to import the proportion of better class hides we should like.
