§ 24. Mr. Bossomasked the Minister of Supply if he is making any provision that will permit the indispensable bicycle spare parts, now required, being made, and the proposed cuts in raw materials essential for these parts being revised.
§ Mr. WilmotI fully appreciate the importance of the bicycle industry, especially in the export field, and the industry is receiving and will continue to receive all the steel that the supply position allows.
§ Mr. BossomDoes the Minister realise that this Question does not refer to exports, but to people in this country who want to go to and from their work? Is he aware that many thousands of people cannot get their bicycles repaired, and will he do something about it?
§ Mr. WilmotI am well aware of that, but there is a great shortage of steel and there are large numbers of surplus bicycles coming on the market in disposal sales.
§ Mr. BossomIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that men do not want new bicycles, but spare parts? What is he going to do about it?
§ Mr. WilmotThe matter is being kept fully in mind.
§ Mr. BossomIn view of the unsatisfactory nature of the reply, I beg to give notice that I shall raise this matter on the Adjournment at the earliest opportunity.
