§ 71. Sir John Mellorasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why 30th June, 1947, was selected as the day 1598 on which the emergency, that was the occasion of the passing of the Special Enactments (Extension of Time) Act, 1940, came to an end.
§ Mr. EdeThis was considered to be the earliest convenient date, having regard to the desirability of giving adequate notice to the parties concerned that it was intended to terminate the operation of the Act.
