HC Deb 08 July 1947 vol 439 c2010
15. Mr. Rankin

asked the Secretary of State for War if he has any further statement to make with regard to the derequisitioning of Bellahouston Park.

18. Mr. Scollan

asked the Secretary of State for War if any decision has been taken on the release of Bellahouston Park from military requirements, as the citizens of Glasgow are disturbed at the long delay.

Mr. Bellenger

Instructions have been issued for all that part of Bellahouston Park which is under the control of my Department to be derequisitioned at once.

Commander Galbraith

In view of the agreement reached between the right hon. Gentleman's Department and the Corporation of Glasgow, does he not consider there is a moral responsibility on his Department to get the other Government Departments out of the park?

Mr. Bellenger

I will do what I can to induce other Departments to vacate their portions of Bellahouston Park, but I suggest that the hon and gallant Member also tries some of his powers of persuasion with the Departments.
