HC Deb 07 July 1947 vol 439 cc1811-2

Order for consideration, as amended (in the Standing Committee), read.

3.48 p.m.

The Secretary of State for Scotland (Mr. Westwood)

I beg to move, That the Bill be re-committed to a Committee of the whole House in respect of the Amendments to Schedule 3 standing on the Notice Paper in the name of Mr. Westwood. The purpose of asking for reconsideration is to enable the House to consider several Amendments which stand in my name on the Order Paper for the purpose of giving effect to a promise which I made in the Committee.

Mr. J. S. C. Reid (Glasgow, Hillhead)

I do not wish to oppose this Motion for a moment, but I would point out that there are other Amendments which do not fall into the class to which the right hon. Gentleman has referred. He must not think that we propose to accept all the Amendments as they stand.

Bill immediately considered in Committee.

[Major MILNER in the Chair]
